Really stand out with your restroom? Go for fragrance!

Spaces that every person deals with, at organizations the most important spaces when it comes to hygiene: restrooms. By now, we can talk a bit about this too. Because besides a hygienic environment, cleanliness is also very important in this space. Something we deal with on a daily basis. Because, a pleasant smell is indispensable in a positive cleaning experience! Are you curious about a good design of sanitary space? Products for sanitary hygiene in companies? And how you can create added value with scent in these areas? Read on!

Furnishing of restroom

Naturally, odor in restrooms is not the only important component for good sanitation in your business. Clean restrooms are essential for a comfortable visit to the restroom or any changing area. Not only because it is then fresh, but also because this creates the healthiest environment for your employees and visitors.

There are several important aspects when you are talking about good restroom design. What products are out there for proper furnishing? How many of these spaces do you officially need? And what about regulations in companies? Why we tell you this: because odor is inseparable from restrooms.

Smell, in fact, can add value. What this means: in addition to a clean toilet, sink or locker room, a higher probability of a positive experience and therefore a positive rating across the entire building!

What sanitary products are there?

Sanitary products collectively serve one purpose: to care for the human body. The most obvious sanitary products are toilets, sinks and showers. But when you talk about taking care of the human body, there are many other items related to this. For example, consider the items you need with the three main items. We're talking about toilet brushes, toilet paper, toilet roll holders, hand soap, mirrors, sanitizers, shower heads and, of course, the not-to-be-forgotten air freshener, or in other words, fragrance!

How much sanitation do you need?

A sound number of facilities are needed in every place. How many toilets are actually needed? And how many sinks belong to them? How many towel dispensers are on average or are there certain rules to the numbers of these?

There are unfortunately no "Regulations for Sanitary Facilities". On the other hand, there is advice from the Occupational Health and Safety Decree. Article 3.24 describes that in the vicinity of all employees are sufficient number of toilets, in the immediate vicinity of the toilets are sufficient washbasins and toilets are separated by sex. Sanitary facilities for businesses, we are happy to zoom in on that.

Sanitation facilities in a business

Because, as unattractive as sanitation in office buildings or businesses sounds, it is the most frequented place in the complex. So the frequency of use is incredibly high. So it is very important what experience someone has in this space and how these facilities are arranged. All the more reason to make it an attractive space! The frequency of use is an indicator we look at closely as a provider of scent experience. How many people and what times they use the toilet is very important to determine the intensity of fragrance and what times it should be higher. The more people visit the toilet, the higher the chance of odor! All the more to mask.

Regulation of corporate sanitation facilities

Also for businesses there are no concrete legislations that sanitary rooms must comply with. There are, however, legal regulations regarding safety. In fact, showers are mandatory in offices or work environments if employees are doing highly soiled work, if work involves exposure to extremely hot temperatures or if employees are exposed to hazardous substances.

So how many toilets are required per employee?

Without specific rules on how many toilets per person or how many toilets per employee are needed, the Occupational Health and Safety Decree does give advice on this: for every 15 workers per gender, there must be one toilet. This includes a sink!

Additional sanitary products in these rooms

The basic requirements of a pleasant visit to the restroom revolve in part around the products used in these spaces. In fact, there are a number of items to make it a comfortable visit, for the guest or staff!

Toilet paper
Enough toilet paper sounds obvious, but this is not the case. So have extra rolls of paper in a double toilet roll holder, or get XL rolls.

Soap dispenser
Make sure you have enough soap! Hand washing with soap is sufficient in most businesses. Does it involve furnishing a building in healthcare or are you dealing with food preparation in the business? Then a disinfection dispenser is also necessary.

Towels
After you have washed your hands, it is important that you can dry your hands cleanly. The most hygienic and durable solution for this are disposable cotton hand towels.

Air freshening
You guessed it! Added fragrance is not to be missed in the restroom product list. We can't get away from the fact that restrooms don't always smell fresh. Besides being properly cleaned, smells can still be present! This affects the cleanliness experience of a visitor or employee. When it comes to air freshening in restrooms, you will only quickly think of wall sprays. However, wall sprays often leave behind droplets, which quickly sink to the floor and so the smell is only present in the room for a short time. They hang visibly and run on batteries that last for a limited time.

So do you really want to excel with your restrooms?

Despite all the advice, rules and products that make a restroom hygienic: added value is created with a little extra for your visitors or employees. Besides looking clean, feeling clean or having nice music on: smell is an indispensable part of a comfortable visit to restrooms. It can be so clean somewhere, but if it does not smell pleasant, the room will also seem dirtier and the hygiene experience will decrease.

The added value of scent perception

As mentioned earlier, adding and masking odor in sanitary rooms has many benefits. Assessment of the entire building is improved by a pleasant smell in restrooms, and a nice smell creates a positive work atmosphere! In fact, unpleasant odors are a major cause of employee frustration. In offices, 52% of employees consider an unpleasant odor one of the main factors negatively affecting their work atmosphere. Prevent bad reviews from visitors and finally, if somewhere smells fresh, people behave cleaner too!
