Sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR)

Sustainability: a subject you can't ignore these days. And we don't want to ignore it either. At Sense Company, it’s part of our decisions and considerations every single day. This way, we strive to reduce our footprint even further. After all, that makes everyone happier, right? Let’s spread some sustainable smiles!

The Scent-factory

A better world starts with us! That’s why we’ve chosen a sustainable home base for our scent factory. So what makes it sustainable?
  • First off, we use floor heating combined with a heat pump. By drawing heat from the ground, we no longer rely on gas, which cuts down our CO2 emissions.
  • A green roof? Absolutely! Our scent factory has a sedum roof that’s naturally insulating, helps with biodiversity, and absorbs a large amount of rainwater. In fact, did you know the Netherlands gets an average of 847 mm of rainfall each year? Instead of letting it go to waste, we collect it to flush our toilets.
  • We’re also thinking ahead with our sustainability goals. Our next steps include installing solar panels and expanding our electric vehicle fleet. This way, we keep moving forward!

Smart online scent device

Through our smart online scent devices and app, we have insight into the operation of our customers' devices. This allows us to remotely check in with them for any questions. And we see when maintenance is needed. The advantage? In addition to being able to provide fast service, this also means that our employees are not driving unnecessary kilometres because every metre counts!

Our customers also benefit from this insight through the app or portal, where they can create their own scent schedules. These schedules allow them to specify how much and when the scent device will nebulise the scent oil. This not only ensures optimal usage of the scent oil but also minimises waste, making our approach even more sustainable!

At Sense Company, we’re committed to a sustainable approach to our staff policy. We believe that when our employees come to work with a smile, it contributes to a positive atmosphere for everyone. That's why we strive to create a pleasant working environment where everyone feels valued and healthy. You can see this in our daily routine: every afternoon, we share a freshly prepared lunch together, and we have our own gym to stay active.

We also provide a talent development program to support our employees in their ongoing growth. More than half of our team cycles to the office, and some use electric vehicles. We’re committed to sustainability by separating our waste and planning our appointments as efficiently as possible. EcoVadis

Since April 2024, we have held the EcoVadis Committed Badge. This badge recognizes our ongoing commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR). It reflects our commitment to environmental protection, fair working conditions, ethical business practices and sustainable sourcing.

EcoVadis is a global platform that rates companies on their sustainability performance. The rating system focuses on four themes: environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable sourcing. Companies are evaluated and rated based on their policies, actions and results achieved. The goal: To lead all companies to a sustainable world.

CSR

As Sense Company, we are also aware of our social function. Corporate social responsibility therefore forms part of our business model. Through CSR, we strive to do business in the most responsible way possible. 

Activities that we develop within CSR are:

  • Production with people with a distance to the labor market
  • Supporting socially involved organizations and charities
  • Contact days for knowledge sharing between partners/clients
  • Sponsor local sports clubs
  • Internship opportunities for students and reintegration.
